Jane Muldoon was indicted for receiving, harbouring and maintaining, Thomas Rafferty well knowing that the said Thomas Rafferty had killed and slain Thomas Muldoon at Stony Creek on 22 May 1845. The Jury retired for half an hour and returned with a verdict of guilty. The prisoner Jane Muldoon was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment in Parramatta Gaol with hard labour. His Honor who addressed the prisoner at some length and with great severity on her shameless and abandoned conduct, expressing his great regret that this, the utmost punishment the law allowed, was quite inadequate for her offence
